アーティスト・イン・レジデンス / Artist in Residence

軽井沢の脇田美術館主催の美術展の一環で、下川町には今、３人のアーティストが滞在し、作品を制作しています。
Three invited artist from out of Shimokawa are staying in Shimokawa and working on their art works. This "Artist in residence" is one of the projects hosted by Wakita museum in Karuizawa.

原口健一さん (Mr. Kenichi Haraguchi, from Japan)

webサイトを見ていただくとわかる通り、どの方もものすごいハイクオリティの作品とすばらしい経歴の方ばかりなのですが（恐ろしく貧しい表現しかできず申し訳ありませんが・・・）、気さくに話をさせていただける機会が多くあり、たいへんに刺激を受けました。
I think you can find their works are very excellent and they have great careers as artists(Sorry for my poor expression...). They are so friendly and frank, so I could have many opportunities to talk with them. I really got stimulated!!

みなさん残念ながらもうすぐ下川を離れてしまうのですが、このような方々がいつも身近にいたら、どんなにおもしろいだろうと思います。
Unfortunately, they will leave Shimokawa soon. I imagine our lives will be more exciting if such people always live around us.

フィンランドには「フィスカルス（Fiskars)村」という、100人以上のアーティストが住んでいる村があるそうですが、下川は北海道版フィスカルスを目指すのもいいんじゃないかとけっこう本気で思っています。
I heard that Fiskars village in Finland was known as "Artists' village" where more than 100 artists live. I quite seriously feel it is a good idea that Shimokawa will pursue the "Hokkaido-style of Fiskars Village".

私自身にはアーティストとしての素質はないので、もしそうなったら、芸術・文化と経済を結びつけたり、北海道/下川と海外を結びつける仕事がしたいなぁ、と夢想しています。
I'm not talented as an artist. So I dream If the project realizes I like to do the work to combine art and economy, and connect Hokkaido/Shimokawa and foreign countries.

彼らの完成作品を見るのが楽しみです。
